CADRI@HNPW 2024

The CADRI Partnership is a UN-led global initiative providing countries with a unique mechanism to pool and mobilize expertise within and outside the UN system in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA). In April 2024, the Partnership embarked on the one-year transition phase of its 2024-2030 Joint Programme – shaping new ways for having lasting impacts at country level.

In collaboration with UNDCO and a set of pre-established criteria, the new business model will be piloted in six countries, under the leadership of the RCO and UNCT and the help of a national consultant. By leveraging existing capacities within the UN System, in particular the global, regional and national mechanisms for the implementation of the UNSLG 2030 recommendations, the institutionalized CADRI process will eventually fully align with the design and implementation of the UNSDCF at country level.

Efforts to translate the CADRI recommendations into integrated DRR/CCA programming proposals and tailored DRR/CCA investment plans will be emphasized in order to have an effective end-to-end support. CADRI partners have pledged to actively mobilize the required resources for the country engagements during CADRI’s new phase, while the Secretariat will be mainly financed through the Pooled Fund contributions.

During this HNPW-session the CADRI partners highlighted key achievements and discussed the new phase and approach for the Partnership. Moderated by Ronald Jackson (UNDP) and Manuel Pereira (IOM), this session featured panellists from UNDRR, FAO, WHO, IFRC, and GNDR.
