UNESCO
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) joined the CADRI Partnership in 2014. UNESCO deploys specialized expertise in response to country demand for CADRI services in the area of protection of cultural heritage, water related disasters, disaster education and science.

UNESCO seeks to build peace through international cooperation in Education, the Sciences and Culture. UNESCO's work on disaster and climate resilience is guided by the Sendai Framework for DRRthe Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By operating at the interface between natural and social sciences, education, culture and communication, UNESCO plays a vital role in constructing a global culture of resilient communities. UNESCO assists countries in protecting UNESCO designated and affiliated sites from disaster and climate change impact, and further strengthens their scientific and technological capacity in identifying, monitoring hazards as well as preparing for them via Early Warning Systems.

As one of CADRI’s Technical Partners, UNESCO deploys specialized expertise to support CADRI work at global, regional and country level. UNESCO led the development of the CADRI Capacity Diagnosis and Planning module for the Cultural Heritage sector.
