IOM

IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. IOM maintains a commitment to supporting its Member States to implement the Sendai Framework for DRR, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Working across the humanitarian-development continuum, IOM brings a unique perspective to this global agenda, with displacement being a core consequence of disasters and climate change, but also given that mobility, when well-managed, can be an important tool for people to reduce risk and build resilience.

As one of CADRI’s Executive Partners, IOM makes annual contributions to the CADRI Pooled Fund to support the CADRI Secretariat functions at global and regional level. IOM led the development of the CADRI Capacity Diagnosis and Planning module on Human Mobility. 

IOM deploys specialized expertise in response to country demand for CADRI Partnership services in the areas of disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, crisis management, camp coordination and camp management, and infrastructure, more specifically in:

• Reducing climate change and disaster-induced displacement through strengthened prevention and preparedness;
• Mitigating the impacts of displacement through rapid, effective and risk-informed response;
• Promoting resilience and durable solutions to displacement by building back better in recovery and reconstruction;
• Expanding and strengthening partnerships to support integration of mobility perspectives in country-level DRR and CCA efforts.
