Hydrometeorological and Climate Information for Disaster Risk Reduction 

Hydrometeorological related disasters are becoming more frequent and intense, reinforcing the pertinence of countries’ capacities in disaster and climate risk information systems. This year’s World Meteorological Day is emphasizing the importance of hydrometeorological and climate information for early warning and early action and is calling for an integrated approach of building capacities for disaster risk reduction. 

WMO and 17 other UN and Civil Society members of the CADRI Partnership have created a one-stop source for training resources in disaster risk reduction with over 40 modules on climate and disaster risk information. Building on the complementarity of expertise of its member agencies, the CADRI partners’ e-catalogue offers training on GIS and remote sensing applications for climate and disaster risk assessment, designing and operating early warning systems, engaging communities in emergency preparedness, creating anticipatory action systems, coordination and information management, mainstreaming climate risk information into national planning, and much more.
